Sometimes we buy....

In my previous post, I talked about the wonderful savings of recycling, but sometimes, we buy.  We have put this off for so long, but these are blank labels and new 2 inch pots.  Not because we cannot find the used, but because we are going to start selling plants.  Yep, it is so exciting!  I have always wanted to do this.  However, we live far away from everything. I would always think, "No way will people drive this far to buy plants." I am gaining hope, however.  With the internet, technology and of course, Craigslist, this is going to be doable.  This year, obviously, it will be on a testing, sampling scale.  Kind of like beta testing for plants.  The goal is to, next year, provide an abundance of heirloom varieties of plants grown locally and for a reasonable, yet economically sustainable and fair price.  Finding supplies is increasingly economical lately.  With so many folks going back to homesteading and the small farm movement taking off, the suppliers are selling their items in reasonable quantities instead of enough for a large commercial farm.

Cut flower farm, sustainable plant farm and heirloom, organically grown produce.  It's a good reason to get out of bed in the morning looking forward to the next work day.

Until next time....
